Jarrett Rodriguez is an east-coast based bassoonist and educator. He is an adjunct instructor of Woodwinds and Music Entrepreneurship at the University of Mary Washington, Associate Principal Bassoon for the Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra, and a Moosmann Teaching Artist.

He has worked with bassoonists of all levels, teaching reed workshops and private lessons, and worked in the music business field. His workshops have taken place across the east coast, including workshops at Lynn University Music Conservatory, Montclair State Double Reed Day 2019, and as a guest presenter for woodwind methods at George Mason University. He has also worked as the web administrator for the Glickman Popkin Bassoon Camp and as a Consulting Bassoonist for Jones Double Reed.

Rodriguez enjoys working as an active freelancer. A few highlights from his freelancing career have been with the 38th annual Historic Royal Fireworks Concert in Spokane, as a guest soloist with Washington’s Camerata performing the Telemann Concerto for Bassoon and Alto Recorder, and as a guest artist with the Mason Opera Orchestra performing Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Menotti’s The Medium.

He earned his Performer's Diploma in Bassoon from the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University, studying under Sasha Enegren. He previously studied with Thomas Schneider and Lisa Eckstein.

Beyond music:

MFA in Design Thinking with secondary studies in Professional Writing from Radford University. His thesis research and design layered Emotional Literacy in Professional Writing pedagogy as a study teaching empathy and perspective-taking as tools to enhance audience analysis.

Executive MBA candidate at the Quantic School for Business and Technology, anticipated completion of 12-2024.
